“Emotionally literate” — an ugly phrase used approvingly to denote the ability to out-wet a lettuce.

  1. When applied to a politician, emotional literacy is the ability to gain votes by crying on cue for the troubles of people you have no intention of helping.

  2. The expression "emotionally illiterate," on the other hand, is a wonderfully apt expression for describing some especially clueless, obtuse churls.
