HM Government has employed someone to tell us that Britain is about to undergo a “new Renaissance” that will produce “the greatest art yet created”. [1] Well, say what you like, but when our government tells jokes, it tells them well. (Speaking of jokes, is it not funny that we have a minister of state for culture in a land sincerely devoted to trash?) The present minister for culture, James Purnell, hopes for “the reclamation of excellence from its historic elitist undertones”. [2] On we go, comrades!

They can have no idea of how deeply they are despised.
ReplyDeleteNo, but sometimes they must get an inkling.
ReplyDeleteI don't much like to adulate but I'll be forced to. I ended up in this blog by chance, googling the title of an essay, which, by the way, I haven't found available for reading. I found something much more valuable instead. In the past days I've read most of the content of this blog, and I must thank you, deogolwulf; it has been a long time since I last saw such quality writing and clear thinking. Keep on it, hehe.
ReplyDeleteWell, that's very kind of you. I find writing quite difficult, and struggle to publish anything on this blog at all. (I have about 800A4-pages of rubbish yet to be organised.)In part, writing should, I think, be the process of organising thoughts, and, for publication, of making them presentable to others -- and I have a very messy and muddled mind.
