Warm Diplomacy

“Central American nations will demand $US105 billion . . . from industrialised countries for damages caused by global warming, the region’s representatives say.” [1]

The proper response, of course, is to send the equivalent value in warships and gunboats.

Throughout its existence the USA has been a generous provider of warships and gunboats to Central America.

Ya, ya, Dearieme, like that time we sent those gunboats to the Falklands.
And here I thought fer sure Latins were invading the United States.

But by all means let us assuage our guilt for damaging poor nations with warming, even though, through no fault of our own, there was no warming; we might have done so and that is what counts.

By all means we should once again have poor people in rich countries send money to rich people in poor countries. At least it's good for the Swiss.
